Adult and Teen Services Computer Assistant (interviews completed)
Part-time/Non-exempt positions includes some weekend and evening work - 25 hours per week
Starting Salary: $11.18 per hour

Fountaindale Public Library District, which proudly serves the diverse community of Bolingbrook, is seeking a public service-oriented individual to provide computer assistance and training to patrons in the Adult and Teen Services department.
Duties: Assists patrons in the use of public access terminals, online services, Internet and other equipment and software available for public use. Maintains familiarity with all library computer software and databases. Troubleshoots computer hardware and software problems. Notifies appropriate staff of complex computer issues. Assists with department computer classes as needed. Assists patrons in the use of hand held devices as needed. Under direction of supervisor, create instructional handouts for classes and services as needed. Monitors the use of the library computer area. Notifies security staff when problems arise. Cleans and maintains computer hardware. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Requires expertise typically acquired through completion of a high school diploma with computer related course work.
Experience: No previous experience required. Computer hardware and software support and Internet application experience in a comparable business, organization, or library preferred.
Skills: Office & Library Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications. Ability to learn and operate computer applications and programs. Familiar with Internet protocols and search techniques. Communication Communicates effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Building Security Monitor (accepting applications)

Fountaindale Public Library District, which proudly serves the diverse community of Bolingbrook, is seeking individuals to perform duties to monitor and provide a safe and functional environment for patrons and staff.
Duties:
Monitors and secures library facilities and property. Monitor entrance and departure of visitors to the building to guard against theft and maintain security of premises. Respond to security system alarms at front doors and emergency doors. Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property. Performs basic building operation functions, including but not limited to routine housekeeping and minor facility and grounds services and repairs. Enforces the appropriate policies for the District. Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and evict violators from premises if warranted. Interact with users in a positive and professional manner, assist and provide information and directions, and utilize diplomacy when enforcing library policies. Completes appropriate documents as needed including but not limited to Incident Reports and Accident Reports. Follows procedures for securing library at close of business day. Completes security checks of premises inside and outside. Ensures facilities and grounds are operating safely and correctly, resolves unsafe conditions. Reports unsafe conditions to supervisor or Person in Charge. Ensures procedures for emergency situations are followed. Contacts 911 in emergency situations and provides first aid, CPR, or AED for stabilization until appropriate staff arrives. Works with police and fire officials as needed. Performs room set-ups. Works with groups using the rooms to ensure they are aware of rules and have what they need. Check room condition at end of use and clean up room in preparation for next group. Assists with deliveries to the Library and to Departments. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Requires knowledge typically acquired through completion of high school or equivalent. Experience: Up to 3 months related experience in a comparable business, organization, or library. Skills: Communication Communicates effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. Physical requirements include: good speaking, hearing and vision ability, occasionally push and pull up to 100 pounds, frequently 10 pounds, ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. Duties: Re-shelves all library materials, sorts and prepares carts for shelving, removes materials from drop boxes and discharges materials, removed materials for Automated Material Handling (AMH) system bins, performs basic operations of AMH system including preliminary troubleshooting, reads shelves regularly to ensure materials are shelved in their proper order, straightens materials on the shelves, provides assistance to Drive-Up window patrons as needed, assists in pulling materials for the Pick List as needed, assists with special projects as needed, performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Fountaindale Public Library District, which proudly serves the diverse community of Bolingbrook, is seeking individuals to provide digital media content creation tools for patrons. Under the direct supervision of the Studio Services Manager, this position assists with the monitoring of computer workstations, audio/video equipment, and production spaces while providing excellent customer service to library patrons.
Duties:
Provides training for patrons and staff of all ages, individually or in small classes, in the correct operation and effective use of computer software and audio/video hardware in such areas as audio/music production, video production, video conferencing, digital imaging/production, and other forms of media. Monitors equipment, computer, and software issues, equipment and supplies storage, and security. Ensures that library policies are consistently followed. Diagnoses equipment and software-related problems and performs preventative and routine maintenance with limited instruction. Schedules appointments for use of public workstations, production spaces, and training. Performs general duties including stocking, inventory, cleaning and organizing. Performs data collection, interacting with computer database used to maintain inventory records. Uses a variety of software to produce reports, spreadsheets, signs or graphics. Keeps tally of computer statistics for monthly report. Organizes and keeps up to date files of product information and operational manuals. Collaborates with other team members on promotions, newsletters, blog posts, podcasts, and digital signage. Assists with script-writing, pre-production, production activities, and post-production tasks such as editing, sound recording, special effects, titles and graphics for audio/video productions that highlight library activities or training needs. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned. 
Minimum Qualifications: Education: High school diploma plus additional specialized training in multi-media, audio and video production, photography, computer graphic skills, or other related field is required. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent successful experience in multi-media, audio and video production, photography, computer graphic skills, or other related field required. Training and customer service experience preferred. Skills: Office & Library Proficiency in Mac and Windows operating systems. Understanding of basic hardware and software operating principles. Requires demonstrable knowledge of both consumer and professional digital media software programs, including the Adobe Creative Suite and iLife. Requires knowledge and experience with audio, video, animation, photography, illustration, music, and related digital media content creation in addition to a familiarity with desktop publishing, scanners, printers, and proven experience with audio and video production equipment. Possesses ability to troubleshoot minor problems with computer hardware, software, and peripherals, and isolate problems. Ability to work independently. Good decision-making ability. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Requires up to date knowledge on emerging technologies in the digital media field. Ability to quickly learn new technology; interest in continuing education. Expertise with general office software, data entry, and the Internet. Communication Communicates effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Precise vocabulary of computer terms to effectively communicate with information technology staff. Ability to translate these terms into basic methodologies while training patrons and staff. Strong public presentation and instructional skills. Spanish speaking language skills is a plus.
