What is Overdrive?
Six area public libraries have joined together to purchase eBooks and eAudiobooks. These digital materials are made available by the Library vendor, Overdrive. To access these materials, please visit www.pindigital.org or the main page of Fountaindale's website. To use this service, you will need a valid library card, access to the Internet and free software for your computer and/or other digital device that you want to use to read ebooks.
You said the new site will be available to me on July 1. Why could I not get into the new site at 12:01 am on July 1?
At 8:45 am on July 1 access to eMediaLibrary will stop and PinDigital will be available to you. It will take time for all of the books to populate on the PinDigital site and will happen throughout the day. This means that the collection will be much larger later in the day than it is early in the morning. Join the fun and countdown with us as we see the collection grow throughout the day!
If I check out a book from eMediaLibrary, will I lose it?
No. You will still be able to read your book(s) during the duration of your checkout period.
What will happen to my holds?
Your holds will transfer to the new site. However, if you had a hold on a book that is no longer available for purchase, it will not transfer over.
Why are some books I had on hold in eMediaLibrary not available for purchase in the new site?
A few publishers, including Brilliance Audio and the Penguin Group, terminated digital book sales to libraries in February 2012. Unlike a regular person, a library cannot pay Amazon or Barnes & Noble for an eBook and then lend it out. Libraries can buy a printed book from these publishers, place it on the shelf, and lend it out, but digital content is being treated differently.
Is there anything I can do to get these publishers to sell the books I want to borrow from the library?
Yes, you can write the publisher. To contact Penguin Group: 375 Hudson Street, New York, NY 10014, call them at 212-366-2000 or contact them via email at
. To contact Brilliance Audio, Inc.: 1704 Eaton Drive, Grand Haven, Michigan 49417 or by phone at 616-846-5256.
Do I have to download any new software or a new app to use this service?
No. Because this service is provided by the same vendor as eMediaLibrary, you will use the same software or app that you are used to and the download process will be exactly the same.
Can I request to purchase a book I don't see in the collection?
Yes. On the new site, click on the teal box that says "suggest a title" to fill out the online form. A staff member will consider your request and get back to you to let you know when it will be added to the collection. If we are unable to purchase your request, we will let you know that too.
When I tap on "get books" in the Overdrive Media Console app, it still says eMediaLibrary. How do I get a shortcut for the new site?
From the "get books" screen, simply click "add a library." Search for Fountaindale by name or zip code and select "PinDigital." Once you download a book, the app will remember PinDigital as your library.
I prefer to listen to eAudiobooks, but I don't see many to choose from in the new site. Where can I find more eAudiobooks to download?
In addition to the eAudiobooks in our new collection, you will find even more to choose from in a service called OneClickDigital, which has thousands of children's and adult eAudiobooks, including exclusive content from Recorded Books. All titles have simultaneous access, so you never have to wait for a title, and OneClick Digital is compatible with all popular listening devices. To get started, visit OneClickDigital through Fountaindale's home page!
Where else can I find eBooks?
Fountaindale also subscribes to the 3M Cloud Library which provides access to additional eBooks. In addition, the Library will soon have Nook ereaders available for borrowing which have eBooks loaded on them. For additional assistance, please call 630-759-4176, send an email to:
