100 Picture Books Everyone Should Know
The New York Public Library has created a great list of picture books kids love, ranging from classics and award-winners to new, popular titles.

ALSC Recommended Book Lists
Find lists from the Association for Library Service to Children such as Great Early Elementary Reads (mostly beginning chapter books), Notable Children's Books (the best books published in the past year), and special topics.

Black Books Galore!
If you're looking for children's books that feature African American characters (or African or Caribbean characters), try browsing the online bookstore in categories like Preschool Books, Poetry and Music, and Fiction or Non-Fiction for Teens.

A Book and a Hug
Browse or search for books by age or category (genre like "fantasy" or types of books like "graphic novel").  Find read-alikes that are similar to your favorite books.  You can even find books to go with your personality type.  You can also watch video interviews of children's authors.

Children's Book Council
The Children's Book Council, a trade association for publishers, offers book lists including "hot" new and upcoming titles, themed seasonal books, and books children across the country have voted for in the Children's Choice Book Awards.

Guys Read
Are you a guy who needs something to read? Read suggestions from other guys, or give a description of what you’re looking for to get a recommendation.

Need more suggestions for boys?  Try the list of chapter books for boys from the Salt Lake City Public Library.  (Many girls will like many of these books, too.)

Illinois KidsZone
If it is hard for you to see or hold books, or if you have a reading disability, you can borrow books for free through the Talking Book and Braille Program.  This page has information about applying to the program, lists of reading suggestions, and an online catalog for Braille and Talking Books.

NoveList K-8 Plus
This helpful database will show you lists of books for different ages, tell you the order of books in a series, and suggest the right name for a book you describe.  The lists of "Recommended Reads" suggest good choices for nonfiction topics or fiction genres.  If you are outside the library, you will need to enter your library card number. 

Oprah’s Book Club: Kids Reading List
Did you know that Oprah’s Book Club now includes children’s books? Click here to find lists of recommended books for babies, preschoolers, grade schoolers, and tweens. She also includes a list of books considered “classics” for children.

Read, Click and Win with BookAdventure
Book Adventure is a FREE reading motivation program for children in grades K-8. Children create their own book lists from over 7,000 recommended titles, take multiple choice quizzes on the books they've read, and earn points and prizes for their literary successes. Book Adventure was created by and is maintained by Sylvan Learning.

Teacher Book Wizard
Never mind the name, it’s OK if you’re not a teacher. This site can help you find books similar to a book you enjoy, or books on a certain subject that are at the right reading level for you.
