A new west-side book drop has been installed at 1st Presbyterian Church of DuPage, 180 N. Weber Road, across from the Meijer.
“This book drop will help us accommodate the busy lives of our patrons,” said Paul Mills, executive director of the Fountaindale Public Library. “While they are out shopping or running errands, our patrons can drop their materials off at this external location. The library’s Bookmobile now makes a stop at the church two nights a week, so it was a natural location to place a remote book drop. The 1st Presbyterian Church has been a wonderful partner to work with in bringing library services closer to our patrons on the west side of town.”
Patrons can return materials to the book drop at any time. Materials will be picked up once a day, Monday through Saturday, and brought back to the main library where the items will be checked in.
The library was just informed that Kindle content is now available for download through the Overdrive Media Library. Library staff is currently experimenting and getting familiarized with the new content and we will try to answer any questions you may have. You can access Overdrive here. Please contact our Adult & Teen Services Department at 630-685-4176 for more information or if you have any questions.
Donations for our Friends of the Fountaindale Library book sale are again being accepted! However, they are not accepting magazines, LPs, books on tape, or music cassettes. All donated items must be clean and dry. If you have a large amount of items, please contact Marianne at 630-685-4231 to make an appointment for drop-off. Last year we were moving into our new building right during the time of voting for the Illinois Young Readers’ Book Awards. This year we encourage you to join the 2012 online reading clubs. Find the club for your grade. As you can see, there is overlap, so some of you can sign up for more than one! Log your books and enter ratings. We have the nominated titles for each award on display adjacent to the Secret Garden in the Children's Department. Pick up a booklist, some books, and start reading!
Be sure to read the minimum number of books in your club so you can vote for your favorite. Cast your ballot at the library if you are not voting at school. Read all 20 on the list and you will earn a paperback book!
