This year’s Great Read is proudly presented by Fountaindale Public Library District, Joliet Junior College, Joliet Public Library, Plainfield Public Library District, Plainfield School District 202 and White Oak Library District. The Great Read is also supported by generous grants and in-kind support from the Plainfield Foundation for Excellence, the Friends of the Plainfield Public Library, Plainfield Township, the Joliet-area Barnes & Noble store, Voyager Media and participating organizations.
The Great Read 2019
Join Fountaindale Library and The Great Read in February 2019 as we follow the yellow book road to celebrate the 80th anniversary of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Frank L. Baum’s enduring 1900 classic novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, tells the story of the magical journey of Dorothy Gale, her dog, Toto, and the faithful friends she meets along the way to the Emerald City. First published in Chicago, the book captured the hearts of readers and spawned countless book, movie and musical adaptations, and it’s timeless themes of adventure, friendship and good versus evil continue to live on today.
Attend any Great Read program or read a The Wonderful Wizard of Oz-related book to enter a free drawing to win a Barnes & Noble gift card.
