Fountaindale Public Library District wishes to announce that the library will have nominating petitions available on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 for persons who wish to run in the April 2, 2019 Consolidated General Election for the positions of library district trustee.

The election will fill four (4) library district trustee positions. Two (2) library trustee positions are six (6) year terms. Two (2) library trustee positions are two (2) year terms.

Nominating petitions and all necessary forms will be available at Fountaindale Public Library District, 300 West Briarcliff Road, Bolingbrook, IL 60440 in the Administration Office on the 2nd floor on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. Office hours to pick up nominating petitions are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You may request that a petition packet be mailed to you by contacting Juanita Lennon at jlennon@fountaindale.org. A minimum of fifty (50) signatures by eligible registered voters are required on the petition in order to get one’s name on the election ballot. Prospective candidates must be a registered voter and reside within the library district boundaries.

Completed petitions must be filed with the Election or Deputy Election Officer of the Library District. The first day to file for election is Monday, December 10, 2018. Candidates must file by mail or in person at the Fountaindale Public Library between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Petitions sent by mail (United States Post Office only) and received AFTER midnight of the first day for filing and in the first United States Postal Service delivery or pickup of the first filing day shall be deemed filed as of 9 a.m. of the first filing day. Nominating petitions received through other delivery systems are not considered “mail” and will not be included in the lottery. It is important to note that petitions received BEFORE the first day of filing cannot be accepted. Petitions filed in person at 9 a.m. on December 10 and petitions filed by mail and received in the first mail delivery of December 10 are included in the lottery drawing to determine the first ballot position.

Candidates who file after 9 a.m. on December 10 will be placed on the ballot in the order in which their petitions are received. Petitions may also be turned in between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on December 11, 12, 13 and 14. The last day for filing is Monday, December 17, 2018 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. No petitions will be accepted after 5 p.m. Two or more petitions filed within the last hour of the filing deadline (between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on the last filing day) shall be deemed filed simultaneously and are included in the lottery drawing to determine the final ballot position.
