Picking up your holds just got easier! You can now pick up your holds anytime, day or night, with our Holds Pickup Lockers located just outside our main entrance. The Holds Pickup Lockers are contactless and can be accessed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so you can pick up your holds at your convenience!
Using the Holds Pickup Lockers is as easy as 1-2-3

- Use our catalog to place items on hold. Be sure to select “Fountaindale Library-Lockers” as the pickup location. You can even set this as your default pickup location for future holds.
- Wait to hear from us. When your hold is ready, you will be notified via your preferred communication method (email or text).
- Pick up the holds anytime within five days of notification. You can access the Holds Pickup Lockers anytime—even when we’re closed! You must know your library card number and PIN to retrieve your items at the lockers.
Retrieving Your Holds at the Lockers
- Scan your library card, digital library card in our app or type in your library card number on the screen. You will hear a soft beep when your card has been scanned.
- Use the touchscreen to enter your account PIN and press “Login.” This is the same PIN you use at our self-checks, on our catalog and in our mobile app.
- As soon as you enter your PIN, your locker door will open. Your items are automatically checked out to your account, so please do not leave anything inside. If you’ve changed your mind about an item, please return it to a book drop.
- Follow the prompt on the screen to take your receipt. The kiosk will time out after one minute from when you enter your PIN.
Items Not Held at Lockers
Not all of our items can be held at the Holds Pickup Lockers. Our system will inform you if an item cannot be picked up at the lockers before you place your hold. Please see the list below for items not available for pickup at the lockers. Please note, this list is subject to change.

How long will my materials be held in the locker?
Holds will remain in the lockers for five days.
What do I need to bring with me to retrieve my materials?
You will need your library card number and PIN.
Can I return my materials at the lockers?
No. Please return your items to the book drop across from the lockers.
Can all materials be picked up using the lockers?
Studio 300 equipment, Tech to Go equipment, mobile hotspots, Rokus, vinyl records and other specialty items cannot be picked up at the lockers. Please see the list above for details.
What are the locker hours?
Materials can be picked up 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Where exactly are the Holds Pickup Lockers located?
The lockers are located outside the main entrance of our building right next to our community Micro Pantry.
How are my items checked out?
Once you scan your library and remove the items from the locker, the items are automatically checked out to your account. You will not need to scan the individual item barcodes.
