Fountaindale has more than just books and movies on our shelves. We also offer a robust collection of specialty equipment including mobile hotspots, Nooks, Chromebooks, STEAMbox kits and more.
What is a mobile hotspot?
A mobile hotspot is a portable device that allows you to connect any Wi-Fi enabled device to the internet.
You can connect up to eight devices at 4G speeds lasting for up to six hours.
Our hotspots provide fast and free internet that is perfect for travel, vacations, work or home.
What is included:
QR instruction card
Power on the hotspot
Select WiFi connections on your device
Select the name of the hotspot (listed on the device)
Enter password (listed on the device)
Patron must be Fountaindale Library cardholder
Library card must be in good standing (fees under $20)
Patron must be over 18 years old
14 day checkout period
Hotspot can be renewed 1 time if there are no other patrons on hold for it
$2 overdue fee per day
Must be returned to the 2nd floor desk.
A $25 fee will be assessed if returned to any other desk or any of our bookdrops.
Hotspot data will be disabled if the device is overdue
If the hotspot comes back with any missing parts, a replacement cost will be charged to patron’s account.

Borrowing a Nook
Our Nooks are preloaded with a variety of popular books for children, tweens and teens.
Nooks are lent for 21 days and are eligible for two renewals provided no one has placed a hold on it.
Children and tweens can visit Children’s Services to borrow a Nook.
Teens can borrow a Nook preloaded with popular YA selections or with their high school summer reading titles. Both options are available throughout the year in the Vortex.
Returning a Nook
In order to avoid damage to our Nooks, please return children and tween Nooks to the Children’s Services Desk and teen Nooks to the Vortex.
If Nooks are returned to any other location, your account will be fined $20.
Overdue Fines and Billing
Overdue Nooks will be fined $1 per day, up to $10.
If a Nook is 28 days overdue, your account will be billed the full retail price of the device.
Nooks cannot be returned once billed.
Damaged Nooks will be charged $25, plus applicable warranty costs.
Damaged pieces will be billed at replacement cost.
Borrowing a Chromebook
Fountaindale Library cardholders and Pinnacle library cardholders ages 8 and older may borrow a Chromebook to use while inside the library. Chromebooks can be checked out from the 3rd Floor Service Desk, Vortex and Children’s Services Desk for up to four hours at a time. Learn more…
Our STEAMbox kits have been carefully designed to educate and entertain the curious minds of K–12 students. Each kit focuses on a different science, technology, engineering, art or math topic and includes equipment and instructions for hands-on activities. Check out a STEAMbox kit today!
Borrowing, Renewing and Returning
Kits designed for kids in grades K–5 are located in Children’s Services.
Kits designed for teens in grades 6–12 are located in the Vortex.
STEAMbox kits are lent for 21 days and eligible for two renewals provided no one has placed a hold on it.
You can checkout one kit per library card at a time.
All kits should be returned to our 1st Floor Circulation Desk.
Studio 300 Equipment
Studio 300 is a unique space that lets you use equipment such as maker technology, microphones, music instruments, cameras, cables and much more!
Non-circulating equipment can only be used while in Studio 300. Circulating equipment can be borrowed for up to three days. All Studio 300 equipment must be checked out and returned at the Studio Services Desk.
