It’s the time of year when everyone starts promising to do better in the new year. One of my annual goals is always staying organized. In 2017, I discovered Bullet Journaling, and it made a huge difference for me. A bullet journal is a customizable planner that you can use to track what is important to you. The Bullet Journal Method was created by Ryder Carroll in 2013 from a need to keep organized in a busy, distracting world. Mr. Carroll’s method is a very simplified system that is fully described on the official Bullet Journal website.

Watch Ryder Carrol’s TedX talk about decluttering your mind.

Fountaindale also has a copy of his book The Bullet Journal Method. Bullet journalling (or BuJo) is something that took off and became something very different. For inspiration, Pinterest and Reddit both have great examples of layouts. All you need to get started is a journal or notebook and a pen. I started with a simple journal from Michaels with dotted pages and a G-2 pilot pen. You can use stickers, washi tape, markers and photos to customize your BuJo. Studio 300’s Silhouette can help you create custom stickers to add some flair.

My top tips for Bullet Journaling:

  • You can start anytime. There no wrong time to be more organized.
  • This is your journal, so there is no right or wrong way to do this.
  • Try new things and figure out what works for you.
  • Just have fun with it!!!
