Did you miss your local genealogical society meeting this month? Our November Genealogy Club recording is now available for you to watch for free, through Thursday, December 12.

This month’s meeting features Using Newspapers.com with Jennifer Warner. Newspapers.com is a treasure trove of information on your ancestors’ lives. With this resource, you can go beyond vital records such as births, marriages and obituaries, and discover political affiliations, church news and legal proceedings, as well as honors and awards. Jennifer guides the audience through the process of searching, clipping and saving articles from the digital resource. Watch below.

Genealogy Updates

Genealogy Club is on break for the remainder of the year. We’ll see you back at the library to celebrate the new year when Thomas MacEntee will present One Touch Genealogy Research: How to Handle a Record Just Once on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 7 p.m. You won’t want to miss this session, and check out our other webinars while you wait.

We are in the final days of the Try-It Illinois database trial! If you haven’t picked up a username and password from the library, you can register on the site directly to access this year’s list of great databases. We need your feedback on the array of great genealogy databases available in this year’s trial, so visit our Try-It Illinois page for more details and let us know what you think.

See you at the library!
