Are you tired of playing Fortnite all the time? (Yes, that can happen, as unlikely as it sounds.) Looking for something different to do? Maybe something with live people IRL? (Nothing wrong with online! Just sometimes we all need the company of a fellow human in person.) Join us in the Vortex for a variety of gaming related things!

“Like what,” you may ask. “It’s probably just books,” you scoff, already turning away.

No, come back! Don’t click away and close this window! Yes, I see you heading towards that “x.”

Well. Yes, of course we do have a book list for gaming readers (view it here and in the carousel below), but there’s also so much more! Keep reading on for more info!

Video Game Tournaments

We tend to host at least one video game tournament every few months, so every season check out The Fountain newsletter to see what it is. You can also check our online calendar at any time. (Chances are it will be Smash Brothers, but not always!)

This November for International Games Week, however, we have TWO. In ONE DAY. ARE YOU READY? Because I sure am not. It’s going to be great!

Video Gaming, the Vortex & You, Fountaindale Public Library

On November 9, at 1:30 p.m., join us for a My Hero: One’s Justice Tournament. A gift card will be awarded to first place!

AND as many of you ask me about regularly, also on November 9, at 3:30 p.m., we’ll have our quarterly SUUUUPER SMAAAASH BROTHERSSSSSSS ULTIMAAAAATE Tournament. A gift card will be awarded to first place for this tournament as well.

That’s right, TWO chances to win TWO gift cards in ONE day. Join us Saturday, November 9 to test your mettle against your fellow teens. Will you win? Only time and experience will tell.

Open Video Game Play Days

We also have days that you can play video games on the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii U and XBOX One. All you need is a physical library card or school I.D. Trade in your I.D. or library card for a controller, and we’ll hold onto it as you play. You’re guaranteed at least 30 minutes of playtime or more if no one else is waiting! Done playing? You get your card or I.D. back! Easy peasy.

When do these happen? Right now, every other Friday, every Sunday and sometimes even during the week on a random day. Check out our events calendar to see more. Just type “Open Video Game Play” in the search box to limit to just that event!
