There is so much to see, hear and experience while visiting the Bookmobile—and now we have a sensory kit available for you to use while you explore! The sensory kit is available for in-Bookmobile use only and is not available for checkout.

Our sensory kit is part of our accessibility and inclusion efforts in both the library building and the Bookmobile, alongside large-print materials, Memory Kits on the Bookmobile, resources for learners with dyslexia and our Sensory Storytimes.

Studies show that sensory toys can help people of all ages regulate emotions, improve focus, and manage sensory input more effectively. They provide a calming or stimulating effect that can reduce anxiety, support attention in settings like school or work, and help develop fine motor skills. They can help anyone who needs to feel calmer or more focused.

Our sensory kit includes a variety of sensory-friendly items designed to help make your visit to the Bookmobile more comfortable and enjoyable. The kit includes the following sensory-friendly items:

Visit the Bookmobile at one of our community stops in September and ask about the new sensory-friendly kit. If you’re one of the first to ask, you’ll receive a sensory sticker to take home!
