Summer days are headed our way! With school out of session, children and teens will have hours to fill with fun new experiences. Maybe your child will be enrolling in a new sport or hobby, attending a summer camp or spending the night away from home for the first time. In addition to these big adventures, most kids will be playing outdoors or online a lot this summer. These settings can present new risks for your child to identify, evaluate and (when necessary) avoid.

This is where the Library is here to help. Join Children’s Services for Safety Week from May 26–30, 2026. This week of programming will provide kids and caregivers with the tools and resources they need to have a happy, fun-filled and safe summer! Our esteemed presenters include Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center, Philippine Nurses Association of Illinois, Arrayscape Gaming and Flood Brothers, who will all demonstrate ways to keep kids and their environments safe, clean and healthy.
