The Final Fantasy VII Remake demo! It dropped! It’s here! [insert pterodactyl screeching]

AND I AM SO EXCITED!

When I first booted it up, I was completely entranced with its beauty. I just walked around as Cloud for a while, letting the camera circle around him and watched all his different bored actions (because I wasn’t moving) for at least 5 minutes before playing.

My first impression? YOU CAN SEE THE SCREWS ON HIS PAULDRONS! THERE ARE SPARKS WHEN YOU HIT METAL! HIS SKIN HAS DIFFERENT TONES! [more pterodactyl screeching] This is absolutely gorgeous, and I can’t wait for the full game to drop on April 10.

Okay, enough fangirling for now.

I’m not going to share too much because I want you guys to experience it for yourself, but you can play the demo in three different modes: Classic, Easy and Normal.

I went with Classic because I have no idea what I’m doing with this new battle system, and it gives you a lot of time to figure out what you’re doing.

How are the battles different from the original?

Well! There are no more random battles. You can see enemies roaming in the field and you can attack them freely with the [square] button. There’s no cutting away to a separate screen anymore! It’s so freaking cool, and it reminds me a lot of the Kingdom Hearts battle system. It was very easy to pick up on, and the game gives you plenty of prompts to explain what to do as you’re playing.

The demo isn’t very long, perhaps about 45 minutes of playtime, but I enjoyed every minute of it. It makes me very, very excited for the actual game.

So until April 10, I release you to go download the FREE demo and play for yourself!
