We have some exciting news to share—Nintendo Switch 2 games are available for you to check out! From family-friendly fun to action-packed adventures, you can power up your Nintendo Switch 2 console with your library card! Stop by the library today and browse our new Nintendo Switch 2 collection!
The Nintendo Switch 2 console was released this summer with some brand new features, including a larger screen! One of my favorite new features involves the new Joy-Cons. They are now magnetic! When you want to enjoy the console as a handheld, the Joy-Cons snap in on either side magnetically! This makes switching between the dock and the handheld quick and easy!
Speaking of docking the system, Nintendo has made playing at home even more exciting. When you dock your system, you can play your favorite titles in 4K quality!

Since the console released, the library has added many exciting titles to our collection, and I wanted to share some of my favorites!
Bravely Default: Flying Fairy
Bravely Default: Flying Fairy opens with a young man named Tiz Arrior, whose life is disrupted when his village is swallowed by a chasm. He meets Agnès Oblige, the vestal of wind. They embark on a quest to reawaken the four crystals. Eventually, they are joined by Edea Lee, daughter of a grand marshall and Ringabel, an amnesiac with detailed notes on their adventure. I love classic turn-based Japanese role-playing games. The four protagonists face difficulty trusting one another, making the story more interesting. The game has a job system that includes 24 different job classes. This means that you can adapt your characters to your individual play style. It’s always exciting to see what new class you’ll unlock next!
Donkey Kong Bananza
Donkey Kong travels to Ingot Isle to search for banana-shaped diamonds known as Banandium Gems. Unfortunately, a mining company called VoidCo steals the gems. This causes the whole island to collapse, sending Donkey Kong underground. Eventually, Pauline, a 13-year-old girl with a magical singing voice, joins Donkey Kong on his adventure. Donkey Kong Bananza is a 3D platformer that plays very similar to Super Mario Odyssey. The most notable element that Bananza brings to the table is its destructible environments. Enjoy exploring your surroundings as DK punches his way through, digging up hidden treasures along the way!
Mario Kart World
Mario Kart World was released as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5. And many fans specifically preordered the system for the release of this title. Mario Kart World is the first of the series to feature an open world. I love the idea of racing around an open world with Rosalina (my character of choice), and I’m sure many other fans appreciate the open world as much as I do. One of the most exciting things about this game, as well as other games in this series, is that it continues to hold onto its local multiplayer features. As much as I also love playing games online with friends from all over the world, I’m excited to know that there are still titles that will allow me to invite friends over for some friendly competition.
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is a spin-off title from the main Rune Factory series. The premise is similar—the player assumes the role of an amnesiac protagonist. As with the newer Rune Factory game entries, the player will get to choose from a female or a male protagonist. You then spend your time building relationships, dungeon crawling and building up your village. This is a great game for people who enjoy dating simulators, action role-playing games and the farming nature of Harvest Moon. Unlike other entries in the Rune Factory series, this game spends more time developing its story rather than its farming mechanics. Since I’m a bigger fan of role-playing games and stories, I’m excited to see where this adventure leads.
