More Bang For Your Borrow: Getting the Most Out of Hoopla
Are you familiar with our digital collection? If so, you probably already know all about Hoopla. With Hoopla, you can access a large collection of eBooks, eAudiobooks, movies, TV shows and music just by signing up with your library card. One of the best things about Hoopla is that you can borrow something instantly—no waiting! The only limit is the amount of materials you can borrow each month. So, to help you get the most out of your borrows each month, I’d like to share some handy Hoopla hacks!

Hoopla BingePasses allows you to enjoy seven days of on-demand access to movies, TV series, books, magazines and more! When you check out a BingePass, you’re getting access to a large amount of content, all at the cost of a single Hoopla borrow. Some of the more popular BingePasses are Hallmark+ and The Great Courses. These are definitely worth checking out if you like to binge-watch TV shows!

The last week of each month, Hoopla selects materials for Bonus Borrows. You can choose from a selection of TV shows, movies, comics and manga, eBooks and audiobooks without using any of your monthly borrows. That means even if you’ve used up all of your credits for the month, you can still enjoy great content on Hoopla! This is also a good way to explore new content.

Libby provides access to a large collection of popular eBooks, eAudiobooks and digital magazines. We even have popular materials in Spanish. For those really popular titles with longer hold queues, Fountaindale will acquire additional copies so the waits are never too long.

The Palace Project is another great place to find eBooks and eAudiobooks, along with a robust back catalog of series books. If you are waiting for a title in Libby, there might be a chance you can borrow it right away in The Palace Project! We also have a small collection of Audible-exclusive titles in The Palace Project, including Love Song by Elle Kennedy and The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins.

If you’re looking for a new movie or show to watch, Kanopy features thousands of independent and documentary films as well as titles for kids. Kanopy uses a ticketing system, and each title costs a set number of tickets. Luckily, children’s titles don’t cost tickets, so your kids can watch anything they’d like for as long as they’d like, and you’ll still have tickets for your weekend movie night. Kanopy will sometimes even have newer titles, like the new Spinal Tap sequel, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.

Hoopla isn’t our only eResource for streaming music! We also subscribe to Freegal Music+, which offers over 20 million songs across over 200 genres. You can download songs onto your device or stream them from the Freegal app. You’re allowed five downloads and five hours of streaming per week with your Fountaindale Library card.
